Stretching back to 1996, the beautiful Caribbean islands of St. Kitts & Nevis have been a large part of my life, both personally and professionally. Its warm and welcoming community occupy a special place in my heart. A nation is nothing without its people and ever since I first stepped foot on the island nation’s shores over 20 years ago, I have wanted to positively impact the livelihoods of the very people who contribute to the success of St. Kitts & Nevis as a tourist destination, an employment hub, a place to do business and as a home.

My professional life has taken me across the world; Africa, Asia, US, Europe and it was just a matter of time but thankfully I was blessed to find the right type of opportunity in St. Kitts & Nevis. My commitment to these islands is absolute and unwavering. I see opportunities that are not always apparent at first glance and with St. Kitts & Nevis, I see more than just a business venture – I see a story of the Federation which is still yet to be fully told.

To do this, I have ensured that Bank of Nevis International Ltd. (BONI) is a vehicle for positive change. I have been involved in the nation’s financial services industry since 2016 but it wasn’t until placing the international arm of the bank under new ownership that I could enact real change in the community and overseas.

BONI has been a true labour of love for me. My way of giving back. My way of showing leadership. Since its new ownership structure came into effect in 2020, I have taken our staff head count from nine to thirty-five in 18 months. Creating employment on the islands is one of my key ambitions to unlock St. Kitts & Nevis’ full potential and contribute to the wider Caribbean economic matrix. Already, we have expanded overseas and represent the Caribbean region at the top table of financial industry specialists. While greater volumes of employment benefits everybody, the human side is also particularly interesting to me. BONI has created a myriad of opportunities for people to learn new skills, embark on their dream career path and finetune their specialisms in ways that were previously unimaginable. People who can extract high levels of job satisfaction from their roles radiate positivity in their communities and take their experiences with them. BONI wishes to cultivate creativity and innovation by empowering individuals.

The BONI community is not constrained to the four walls of our headquarters on the island of Nevis. Every single member of the team plays an active part in their respective neighbourhoods, and we all support the ongoing development and welfare of the people who make St. Kitts & Nevis what it is today. During one of the most challenging periods in recent memory, we have played our part during the COVID-19 pandemic by helping those most in need. BONI has donated desktop computers to schools and issued food vouchers to local people who have felt the negative impacts caused by the pandemic.

So as BONI continues to grow its product and service offering, expand its geographic reach and act as a gateway for clients in their search for banking solutions, we will continue to give back to the community that has inspired the very values and principles in which BONI is based on. BONI is the catalyst for meaningful change and has the capability to beam St. Kitts & Nevis’ credentials to the rest of the world. We are proud to be contributing to that narrative as an organisation.

The next chapter will come soon and will take BONI to the next level. I remain, as do all of the BONI team, excited for the future.
